Epilogue and Update
It is now October of 2023, and as I prepare to publish these final chapters, life is unfolding in the most interesting and exciting ways! I continue to sell vehicles in Calgary, and I am enjoying it for many reasons. I love the idea of relationship- based selling and the idea of creating a customer base that I can work with for the long term! I am learning about the sales process, and contrary to what I used to think, becoming a sales professional is a task that requires a great deal of self discipline.
I have always admired people who were in control of themselves, and I am interested in self discipline and engaging in practices that help me to cultivate self discipline and personal wellness in general.
I am often thinking about the best ways to live and the implications of all of my experiments heretofore, and I think one of the main takeaways thus far, is that it is paramount that we choose tasks and endeavours that lie within our strengths and strong suit skillset. For me, this is definitely writing and also musical performance, (the violin).
Self discipline has come out as being of utmost importance. That and looking at new ideas on Youtube or in the written form of books. Instead of having no goals and doing whatever is convenient and pleasurable, I have discovered that it’s actually easier to have daily objectives, like getting a certain amount of exercise, (10,000 steps) or eating a certain number of calories and specific quantities of protein, daily. Doing things myself and refraining from relying on others to do things for me has become the new currency for more empowerment and pure freedom. Preparing my own meals, shopping for my own groceries, handling all of my projects entirely on my own, as much as possible, is an important concept that leads to instant empowerment, which is basically more confidence in myself!
Other noteworthy developments include my development and launching of a musical Youtube channel. The channel is called @soundsofjessehislop and the response has been great, in just over one month, I have well over 800 views! Music is so important to me part of my life, and I haven’t spoken much about the violin, yet,..., but those stories are coming, of that you can rest assured…. I will continue to post music videos as I go forward, and who knows where that will take me? Once again, Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdZNizeaGwi97zDyUAO7VbQ
The other thing I want to impress upon you is the positivity of my mental and physical state. I have recently started doing cold exposures (cold showers, as cold as they can be, for timed intervals) as well as keeping track of my daily calories and nutrients (protein intake in grams) as well as my physical activity which includes strength training in the form of calisthenics and also daily walking (step) goals (using my smartphone to count my steps), And a daily regimen consisting of a morning routine that involves intermittent fasting until after 12 pm, only black coffee and water till my “breakfast time,” which is ideally around 2pm and morning meditation and exercise. These individual practices when done together create a wonderful situation where my body has adapted and is thriving under these guidelines. Cold exposure is a huge game changer, each day I am doing a timed cold shower and I can feel a definite change in mood and energy levels, as well as the biggest change of opening my mind to the potential that lies within myself. I say this because what seemed impossible has become possible, and if it is possible for me to take a cold shower, then really, what else is possible… (I used to despise cold water!)? Going forward I want to explore my full potential and leave no stone unturned— to live fully and engage myself in my fullest capacity, so that at the end of my life I can look back and know that I applied all of my strong suits to their fullest potentials without self- imposed limitations. I will be exploring this in depth, and something tells me, I will be doing it for the long haul.
Please keep on the lookout for updates on this blog and musical postings on @soundsofjessehislop and always remember that the mind can be a great servant in life but it can also be a terrible master and cause a lot of problems in life, so learning how to still the mind is extremely important!
I am living proof that life can be extremely difficult and unpleasant for a very long time, and then, quite quickly, change and be exciting, invigorating, and very positive.
Never, ever—- give up!
My very best wishes and heartfelt thanks to you for being a part of my journey!
With utmost respect and gratitude,
Jesse
